Welcome

Welcome to the Minnesota Monitoring Technology Review Process.

If you are having trouble accessing any of the documents or blog pages, contact Andrew@hcbs.info for assistance.

Overview
The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) has contracted with HCBS Strategies to help develop policies and procedure for technology used to monitor individuals with disabilities who are receiving Medicaid-funded home and community based services (HCBS).   This effort is limited to technology that allows a support provider or caregiver to see (cameras), hear (microphones), locate (GPS devices), or provide the ability to sense an individual but technology is not located on the person (motion sensors, elopement alarms).

DHS has already implemented a review process for some types of monitoring technology.  For more information on this process, please click here.

This effort includes the following tasks:
Task 1.          Refining the process for reviewing monitoring technology
Task 2.          Providing guidance to changes in regulations and amendments to
federal Medicaid HCBS waivers that cover monitoring technology
Task 3.          Developing a framework for reporting about the use of monitoring
                                  technology

This blog will provide updates on the project and allow stakeholders to provide comments and suggestions.  At this point, we are working on the first task.

We have incorporated the feedback on the draft Monitoring Technology review process that we received from stakeholders.  We received great feedback that allowed us to significantly streamline the process.

We provide updated forms here.
